The
National Electrical Code (NEC) requires GFCI receptacles
to be installed in potentially wet and damp locations throughout
homes, commercial buildings, schools, hospitals, public
buildings and many other facilities. |

SmartLock®
with Lockout Action Lockout Action…
First to meet new Underwriters Laboratories (UL) 2003 requirements.
All UL-Listed GFCIs manufactured after January 1, 2003 must
conform to new industry-wide GFCI requirements.
|
| |
Leviton
SmartLock meets or exceeds these tougher requirements
-
Diagnostic
Indication for Miswiring. If a GFCI is miswired
with a line/load reversal, it is a potentially hazardous
situation because the GFCI receptacle face will be live
and unprotected even after the GFCI has tripped. UL
now requires a diagnostic indication to help prevent
line/load reversal.
Leviton’s SmartLock incorporates a diagnostic
feature that prevents the GFCI from resetting if the
line and load connections are mistakenly reversed.
-
Surge
Immunity. Since electrical surges are a leading
cause of GFCI failures, UL requires increased surge
immunity.
-
Corrosion
Resistance. New criteria for corrosion resistance
testing will ensure that GFCIs can still operate when
exposed to certain corrosive environments.
-
False Tripping. New requirements will also
help ensure that GFCIs are more resistant to false tripping
caused by "electrical noise."

Leviton
SmartLock will meet or exceed all the new requirements for
surges, corrosion resistance and noise immunity. |
